Righteous Fire Guide- Walk Through the Game

Righteous Fire is a fun skill, that you can't use till like level 60 or you kill yourself. Feels good man. It is strange yet simple to build around, as it gains damage based off of your max life. While it's gonna kill bosses pretty slowly, you shouldn't die unless you're an idiot. That's why I'm choosing it for my league starter.

The tree I'm going with is this. 234% life, 9.1% life regen, 70% burning damage, 34% elemental, 95% fire. Double curse. Imma go double blas Flammability Vulnerability, and Purity of Fire. The goal is to be as faceroll as possible. Lategame we swap to PoF, Determination, get Vuln through a flask, and get Flam through CoH. Life regen is the most important thing to get before 60 here. Otherwise life until comfortable and then aura/curse stuff and damage.

We stack a lot of type of damage. burning, fire, elemental, and curse effectiveness. Curse effectiveness actually gives way more damage than that ele damage wheel with this setup. Double curse gives 25% more damage with the effectiveness wheel. We also get ele equilibrium and overload, and we will proc it with Blade Vortex.

Ascendancy could be any choice. I see Marauder, Templar, and Duelist all working. Even Witch with money. I chose Berserker for damage and leech. I also forego endurance charges, as I want 2 curses to be more damage, while maintaining the life and damage from the templar section. This is a max damage build. Although maximum damage would probably be witch.

We use armor yellows for Gloves and Boots. We also use a yellow chest until super late game. We use a leather belt, and ideally two coral rings. You want max life everywhere. You also need at least one piece of gear with either (added cold damage to attacks, or added lightning to attacks.) This is for ele equilibrium. You are also gonna need some dex somewhere...however gearing this build should be somewhat easy because of purity.

Righteous Fire needs two things to work well, a Rise of the Phoenix and Purity of Fire. Additionally, for this purpose it makes a Ruby Flask function as a life flask. Whenever I can afford it, I will pick up a Witchfire Brew. This enable double aura double curse,

We run a Doryani's for more damage and leap slam access. To be tanky we run a Formless Inferno, which might be my favorite item now. For even more damage we run a Xoph's Heart (not the empowered version as it gives Avatar of Fire). Super late game my league goal is to get a legacy Kaom's Heart (the 1000 life version). This is only possible because of legacy league, and I feel it was made for Righteous Fire. It gives 40% more total damage and pushes our life over 10k.

Even better, Kaom's has no downside as Righteous Fire can only use 4 links! This is my segue into gems and links.

4 links

Righteous Fire> Elemental Focus> Increased Burning Damage> Conc/Inc Aoe (swap)
Nothing else helps the skill. Unless you wanna go RF totems! Also viable. RF does not "hit" so it does not proc Ele Equilibrium.

Purity of Fire> Blasphemy> Flammability> Vulnerability (swap once you've got witchfire)
Aura/Curse setup.

Blade Vortex> Cast when Damage Taken (level 1)> Curse on Hit> Flammibility
Auto curse on hit setup.
This is for late game, like red maps. Also bosses. This way you can run a 50% aura like Determination! It will give you like 60k armor! For easy stuff you can run blas. This is just for survival. Every blade hit will proc Ele Equilibrium!

3 links

Leap Slam> Faster Attacks> Fortify
Standard movement setup for marauder. Fortify is here and it is the only way in our links to get it. Sorry to fuck up the mouse only playstyle. You honestly don't need this till red maps tho. This procs Ele Equilibrium in an AoE as well!

Blade Vortex> Cast when Damage Taken (level 1)> Increased Critical Strikes
To proc ele overload. 20% crit. Not the best, you could also run Orb of Storms but I like the passivity of this. Every blade hit will proc Ele Equilibrium!

Flasks are still underrated and underutilized but damn are they important. We need a Ruby, Granite, and Sulphur. We run the unique Witchfire Brew and Blood of the Karui, the only life flask capable of filling RF's massive lifepool. Other than that, we need 3 specific suffixes on the blue flasks. Iron Skin (80-100 more armor.) Staunching (immunity to bleeds.) and Heat (immunity to Freeze.)

I am very excited to try this build out. Feel free to try it yourself on your marauder. There are some variations on RF. More commonly people use endurance charges or totems or stuff, but I when with dual curse and max damage cause fuck it man yolo. To make myself feel good and encourage you to try it sometime; here is my sheet, endgame, with all items/flasks popped.

  1. Thanks for the valuable feedback. I think that strategy is sound and can be easily replicable. Great posts. I love this article.
